MASTERTON NOTES

In a Booth Cup match between the Eketahuna and Masterton. Park Bowling Clubs, the former won by 54 points to 28. The weekly evening sports in con.nection With the Wairarapa Amateur, Athletic Club were held on Thursday. A 100 yards'handicap'was Tron by W. Gemmell, a 440 yds. hurdle event by A. Connolly, and a two-mile bicycle race by E. M'Ewen. A stall is being provided at the llasterton Show next week, the proceeds from which are to be devoted to a fund for the provision of a building in England for the accommodation of soldiers who are permanently incapacitated. . The Girls' Red Cross Brigade, of Masterton, has collected a sum of £1900 in aid of the Bed Cross Funds in Masterton and surrounding districts. A conference between representatives of the North and South Wairarapa is tn be held in Featherston shortly, to discuss the proposed hydro-electric scheme. The Lady Liverpool Committee has. decided to send a sum of £100 immediatelv to the National Secretary of the Y.M.C.A.. for the,supply of comforts to the men in the trenches., and a similar sum next month.
