KARORI AFFAIRS
BOROUGH COUNCIL MEETING
The fortnightly meeting of the Karori Borough Council was hold last evening, the Mayor (Mr. B. G. Bum) presiding, and there were also present: Councillors T. Lever, It'. Fane, A. Hamilton, W. C. Cooper, R. T. Pell. A letter was received from Mr. D. J. M'Govern who stated a petition | had been made to t£e Wellington Tramways'- Management for a lunch car suitable for residents of Northland and Kelburn Extension, as this petition [ had .been refused on the grounds that the granting'would necessitate the running of an extra ear; and also that the cars were run to meet the requirements of the Karori Borough Council, he desired, on behalf of the petitioners, to ask that the car ■ which .at : . present leaves Courtenay Place at 1.2 p.m., run ten 'minutes earlier from ; either end, as it was thought it wouH he a. great convenience to many resident's who had now to lunch in town. As the council considered that this.would necessitate the extra car suggested by the Tramway- Board, the matter was referred back to the Tramway Board. The engineer's report stated that tho footpath on the. south side of the Main Road lately kerbed and channelled, was being put in order and brought down to the permanent level. The Mayor (Mr. B. G. Bum) was, appointed as the delegate from tho council to the conference of representatives of councils in connection with the hydro-electric power scheme. The engineer (Mr. G. W. Bingham) was granted leave of absence at--1 tend the annual conference of-'civil en-, gineers, to bo held' in the Town Hall, Wellington, from February 20 to February 24. ...
