MASTERTON NOTES
The Masterton police officers will shortly collection of agricultural statistics.' ; There are at present twenty-seven patients in the- Masterton Hospital, including five in the isolation ward. A Masterton settler was charged in the. Magistrate's Court on Friday with having failed to provide improved accommodation for his shearers. The case was adjourned, on tho application of counsel, to permit of the attendance of the defendant. : A further downpour of rain occurred in the Wairarapa on Saturday. Tho anxiety of sottlers in regard to stock has now been relieved. Masfcerton breeders secured excellent prices for their stud and flock rams at the Hastings ram fair. Mr. Bland ; Eayner topped the list in flock Bom- ■ neys with 50 guineas each for a pen of fivo shearlings. ; The Masterton Horticultural Society has decided to hold its autumn show on February 28. The society made a profit of £58 on its rose and sweet pea show, and this amount is to be : handed to the Lady Liverpool Committee.
