NEW ZEALANDERS AT HOME
London, December 7. Lieut. R. M. Stc-rndale, of Timaru, who is in the Loyal North Lancashire Regiment, was in London last week. Lieut. Thomas Seddon was in Glasgow, and a guest of the corporation at the ceremony of conferring the Freedom of the City on Mr. Massey. Mr. A. K. Wrigley, of Hamilton, who arrived by the Corinthic on December 9, accompanied by his wife and two children, lias come- over on family matters, and will probably remain here for tho duration of the war. _ On Monday next the High Commissioner is giving a farewell dinner at the United Service Club to Sir James Carroll. Those invited are Mr. Bonar 1 Law, Lord Fisher, Lord Islington, the Right Hon. "W. F. Massoy, Sir Joseph Waid, Sir George Perley, Sir Thomas Mackenzie, the Hon. W. Pember Reovos, Mr, Schreiner, Major Taylor Young, and Colonel Anderson. Several social gatherings aro being given in honour of Mrs. and Miss Massey. Lady Whitburgh is having an "At Home" for them. Mrs. D. Maclean is giving a tea at tho Carlton, and by special invitation of Princess Christian they visited the Arts and Crafts Exhibition at Burlington House yesterday (Wednesday). Mrs. Kenneth Gordon, wife of Captain Gordon, N.Z.M.C., of To Aroha, who left New Zealand in- October, 1915, was attached as V.A.D. to tho N.Z. G.H. in Cairo till April of this -year, and after six woeks' sojourn in France is now engaged by the War Office upon work, the particulars of which ..will only be available after the war.. Captain Gordon has just been over on short leave from France, whero he is attached to the 2nd N.Z. Field Ambulance. Captain Gordon wasMn Egypt for six monthp at the Emergency Clearing Camp lin Zeitoim, Cairo, having left New Zealand as P.M.O. on board tho s.s. Aparima with reinforcements in October, 1915.
