NURSES FOR MILITARY DUTY
HOSPITAL BOARD CONCERNED,
By Telegraph—Press Association,
Chrlstchuroh, December 20. There was a good deal, of discussion at a. meeting of the North Canterbury Hospital and Charitable Aid Board today, when.. Miss Robinson, matron of Kaikoura Hospital, asked for leave in order that she might take up military ■duties. Several members questioned the wisdom of depleting the hospital staffs, but ultimately.it was decided to give formal consent to Miss Robinson taking up military duties. 'Hie Hospital Committee reported that it regretted to have to state that in addiwn to the matron of Kaikoura Hospial, Sisters Bennett and M'Kay of the Hospital staff, had been called- up to accompany the Maheno. The attention of the Department lad been called to the fact that the continued withdrawal of the senior officers might seriously impair the efficiency of the hospitals, and that this aspect should bo considered before nurses or others were called_up for military service, if the institutions were to be maintained in condition of effioieucy.
