THE DEFENCE STAFF
MINISTER'S THANKS FOR A YEAR OE HARD WORK.
The following memo, has .been received by the Commandant of the Military Forces from the Acting-Prime Minister and Defence Minister (the Hon. J. Allen).:— "As the. dose of another year comes near, I must write to.thank you, the Headquarters Staff, and all the staff throughout New Zealand, for the loyal support given to me during these trying times. fiveryone has unselfishly worked to the best of his' ability to carry out the onerous; duties, and I gratefully acknowledge this. I wish it were pos-sible-that you and every member of the staff could enjoy a well-deserved holiday and rest, and know that you ■will do your best to provide this. It some cannot have all they should, they will, I know, uncomplainingly accept the situation, and play . the game. Please accept yourself and convey to the staff my good wishes during .Christmas time."': -
In reference to above. General Robin, on behalf of tho Military Staff and personnel, has assured the Hon. J. Allen j.-hat tho one and only thought of all' is to continue to support him in his ever increasing responsibilities as in the past niftil thei war is well won and our gallant "forces demobilised with honour. ■
General Robin also expresses his entire .satisfaction, on the general excellency of the work of tho staff dnring the year. Through constant, strenuous work at all hours of the day or night, the cordial relations between all branches has made a heavy task practically a pleasant one. .
