RIFLE SHOOTING
KARORI DEFENCE CLUB. The members of the Karori Rifle Club fired a competition on Saturday afternoon tor trophies donated by President W. Judd and Deputy-President Willoughby. The Suburbs Defence Rifle Club continued thoir trophy shooting on Saturday at their range, Broadway, Miramar, at ranges 500, 600, 700 yards." The best shoot of tho day was by H. R. Hunt, with 94. Several good range scores wero made— Boniface, 34 at 500 yds.; W. May, 32 at 600 yds.; H. Hunt 32, J. Bassett 31, at 700 yds. Next Saturday tho club will commence their second shoot in tho second series at ranges 500, 600-yard match, 10 shots. On New i'ear's Day, the Suburbs Club are inaugurating a oneday meeting at Jliramar, with four matches, entrance fees 2s. 6d. per match. Mr. J. L. Turner will control tho meeting as range officer. The club, with the assistance of tho Wellington clubs, are arranging for a grand aggregate match independent of tho other matches.' The Old Naval Defence Rifle Club opened their season's shooting with a pructioo match on the' Polhill Oully llaiigo on Saturday afternoon. The conditions were seven shots and sighter at each 500 and 600 yards.
