ENGLISH WOOL MARKET CHAOTIC
MEETING OF WOOL INTEREST i MR. MASSEY PRESSING FOR A SETTLEMENT Australian-New Zealand Cable Association. (Rec. December 2, 7150 p.m.) London, December 1. The wool markets are in a chaotic condition, pending; an announcement of the Government's intention. At a nicotine of the committees of the Colonial Wool Importers, Selling Brokers, and Wool Buyers' Association, it was decided to ask Mr. Lloyd George to receive a deputation which will recommend that all wools bought in Australia and New Zealand, and shipped prior to tho Government's commandeer, bo sold in the usual way. A number of Yorkshiremcn camo to London under the impression that tho .meeting would be open to tho wholo of . the trade. Thev wore not allowed to be present, but held a meeting themselves and passed a resolution demanding the maintenance of the present conditions. The sneakers pointed out that by reason of convenience, long usage, and economical grounds, isales were far preferablo to the establishment of new Government organisations. At the War Office's invitation a denutation from the Bradford Wool.Buyers' Association and Bradford commercial men discussed the whole matter with the War Contracts Department. Mr. Massev (the Prime Minister of New Zealand) and <?ir Joseph Ward had a lengthy with the Government on the wool rmestion. A further sitting will_ be held to-night. Mr. Massey is pressing for an early settlement of the question.
