HATAITAI MUNICIPAL ELECTORS

The committtee of the Hataitai Municipal Electors' '' Association m,et on Monday, Mr. A. Leigh' Hunt being in the chair. Messrs. Morcam and Hogers were elected members of the committee. TJie old complaint of inadequato tram service was again to the fore, and every member present had somo complaint or grievauce to voice. As a result of the debate it was decided to write : ,to. the tramway authorities asking theni to receive, a deputation from'the association to discuss the points raised: Several- more instances of. houses being erected on sections, having a lessfrontage than 20 feet were pointed out, and in view of the position the City Council lias taken up on this question it was. decided to again write to ..the. Greater Wellington Municipal Electors 1 Association,: and to. as!.; that body, to, make most urgent appeals to have the. by-laws amended to prevent this continued subdividing and overcrowding. ' It was brought before tho committee that-the namoTplates of many, of tho' streets-were illegible, and a letter is to be sent to. the' City Council asking that this be rectified. The City Council is to be asked.that certain dangorous corners and portions of footpaths be roughened, as of late elderly people have fallen owing to the slippery state of tho asphalt.'Very little has been done by the City Council to improve the locality during the last few years,- and many important works'are'urgently required. 1 ' A', sub- 1 commiiteo was set up. to bring, forward a report" of such works at--the uext mooting, .with a. view to having' the same brought under, the notice of. the. City Council. The members present promised to assist the promoters of the Belgian' Christmas Fair, ; which is to, bo held next month, in every possible way.-
