HEAVY DAMAGE TO OTAGO ORCHARDS. By Telegraph—Press Association.. Dunedin, November 20. An unprecedented severe thunderstorm burst over Coal Creek on Saturday, and continued for about an hour. Jagged lumps of ice, the 6ize of ordinary marbles, fell, and almost stripped the fruit trees of their youug fruit and leaves. The hills oil either' side of the valley wore covered with hail, in some cases one foot in depth. AA'hat fruit is left will be of little value. An estimate of tlie damage cannot bo made yet, but it is very considerable. Ono grower alone estimates that his loss will reach four figures. Several housoe were flooded with water caused by melting hail, coupled with rain, considerably swelling the streams flowing down the valley.
