TRADE AFTER THE AVAR! The General Committee of tho AVellington Provincial Industrial Association met last evening, Mr. F. J. Evans in the chair. : t 'A letter was read from Mr. J. 13. Laurenson, of Christchurch, referring to the work of tho Now Zealand Board of (Industries, recently established in Canterbury. Mr. Laurenson stated that the board, which was formed for the consideration of post-war industrial conditions, was intended to form the nucleus of a national movement. A big effort was being made in Canada to prepare for the. difficulties that would arise after the war.' Tho Canadians were not onlv endeavouring to avoid industrial dislocation after the close of the war, owing to the stoppage of the manufacture of munitions and the return of soldiers, but were anticipating a very large increase in population They were aiming at doubling their population within three years. AAlien the work of the committees set un in Canterbury was more advanced, full information would be supplied to the AVellington Industrial Association, in order that all points might be -fully discussed before any representations were made to the Government. Mr. Laurenson mentioned that the Board of Industries would like an opportunity to place its views before the impending conference of tlio United Chambers of Commerce in AVellington.. . Tho secretary" (Mr. H. F. Allen) said tho time had been too short to arrange for a deputation from the board to wait upon the conference. He had suggested that Canterbury delegates to tho conference should be asked io bring the board's proposals before tho other delegates. Messrs. Partridge, Ballinger, Mainland, and Norwood wero selected to represent tho association at the annual conference of the Industrial Corporation of New Zealand. Tt, was decided that the delegates should arrange the d!> fn of the conference. • Some discussion took place retarding' >nmits for the. corporation's conference.
