CHARGE OF MANSLAUGHTER
"NOT GUILTY." By Telegraph—Press Association. Chrlstchuroh, October 31: In the Supremo Court, Hugh Charles Graham was charged with tlio manslaughter of John fS'iilay on September 20. An alternative charge of assault was also preferred. The alleged offences, it was stated for the Crown, arose out of an altercation in an hotel between prisoner and another man. Km lay intervened, and, it was alleged, was struck by Graham. On proceeding to flis borne, Finlay collapsed in the. street, his head striking the pavcmont, and' ho died. .Prisoner denied that ho struck Finlay, but said ho threw deceased from him, and he reel"c<l bar~ into a chair. The, jury returned a verdict of. not guilty on both counts.
