A meeting of the Wellington Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals was held last evening, Mr. P. Meadowcroft presiding. The inspector roported that a horso belonging to an expressman at Northlands had been found -with a cut on the shoulder, evidently inflicted by some malicious person.. The cut was four inches long, on the near side of the neck under the collar. The inspector examined the place where the horso was tethered, but ho could not find anything in the shape of glass or barbed-wire which would cause tho injury. Further inquiries are boing made in tho matter. The annual meeting of the society will bo hold on Tuesday, October 31.
