HATAITAI MUNICIPAL ELECTORS
A meeting of the above association was held last evening, Mr. A. Leigh Hunt presiding. It was reported that the Education Board had agreed to slightly extend the boundary of tlio school district, but, whilst accepting this concession under protest for tho time being, the association felt strongly that many small children living just outside the boundary were l>ein» unnecessarily penalised, and efforts will be made f.o iniluenco the board to further extend 'the southern boundary so as to embrace the whole of Hataitai district.
A letter was received from the City Council regarding permission being granted for tie erection of houses upon small areas of land, and it wis decided to reply to this, commending tho proposal of a minimum of 8000 square feet of land for each dwelling, but maintaining that a minimum street frontage of 40 feet should be insisted upon. The committee further hopes that tho Greater Wellington Municipal Electors' Association will take this matter up, and oommence a vigorous campaign, as the matter is a vital one, affecting the lthole of the suburbs of the city. A very hearty vote of thanks was passed to those gentlemen who have assisted in the work of planting the Post Office section with shrubs.
The committee earnestly support the Health Department in the "fly" campaign, and urges householders to Tefr'ain from using stable manure in their gardens. The Health Department are to bo asked to forward circulars for distribution throughout the district, and the City Council are to be written to asking that the -rubbish bins bo cleared biweekly instead of weekly as at present.
