THE FIRST STONE STEAMER
Außtralian-New' Zealand Cable Association. (Rec. September 14, 1.25 a.m.) Ghrlstiania, September 13. The first stone vessel lias been launched. She is constructed of concrete, except for her steel ribs. M. Bromstom, tho Minister of Marino, a leading Swedish shipowner, ordered the first vessel of 3000 tons, and is delighted witli the result. Ho proposes to construct concrete ships of between 15,000 and 20,000 tons, to bo used as railway ferries between Gothenborg and England. Experts consider that a now epoch in shipbuilding has boeu inaugurated.
