LADIES' HOCKEY
MANAWATU BEATS WELLINGTON.' •Several interesting hockey -matches wero played on Saturday. Manawatu Ladies beat Wellington Ladies by 4 goals to one. For Manawatu Misse's I. Kerslake (3) and E. Green' scored, and for Wellington Miss Lang. Messrs. J. C. Cusack and A. W, Manning were the referees. - A return matoh will .be played at Palmerston 'North on Wednesday. Alterations have been mado in the AVollington team. Miss Haase replaces Miss Geddis and Miss Skinner replaces' Miss Willets. Miss Geddis •is first emergency. . Mr. B. G. H. Burn, Mayor of Karori, entertained both teams at afternoon tea at tho conclusion of the match. The members of the Manawatu Association were tho guests of the "Wellington Association at His Majesty's Theatre on Saturday eyening, and yesterday were taken for a 'car ride to Lyall Bay and Brooklyn. AVollington beat Trenthani by 7 goals ton 4 goals. Goals for Wellington wero scored by Loader (3), AYhittakor, Lyons (2), and Richards! and for Trenthani by Rountree, Herlithy (2), and Speight. Mossrs. Lloyd and Pen-in were the referees. The five.-a-side tournament resulted: First round—Hutt A 7 alley A 6 points, Y.M.C.A. A nil; Karori 1. Y.M.C.A. B nil; Hutt Valley B 12, University 3. Second round—Hutt. Valley A 5, Hutt A r alloy B3; Karori, a bye. Final— Hutt A r alley A 10, Karori 9. The referees were Messrs. Sherwood and NeeoV ham,
