' NEW BOARD'S FIRST MEETING. By Telegraph—Press Association. Christohurch, September G. The first meeting of the new Board of the New Zealand Trotting Association was held this afternoon. Mr. P. SMig was re-elected president, thus succeeding to his nineteenth consecutive terra of office. Mr. H. F. Nicoll was elected vicepresident, and Mr.. W. J. M. Hopkins •treasurer. The matter of payment of secondary stewards for aoting in respect of trotting events on programmes of gallops, was held over till next meeting. It was decided that the owners of Hal Anzac, and Anzao he called upon to change the names of the horses. Mr. Nicoll movod an addition to the resolution previously adopted penalising riders and drivers who started before their time. The resolution was considered drastic, and ho agreed it should be drastic, but there were some cascß in which hardship might occur, and-to alleviate that he moved to add to the resolution the words "provided '■ always that if tho stewards of the club at whioh the rider or driver starts boforo his time pass n special resolution that ho was not responsible for tho offence, hid license shall continue in force till tho nest meet, ing of the board, when tho question of suspension shall bo considered." The motion was carried.
