CASUALTIES AND DAMAGE. (Iteuter'a Telegram,) (Rec. August 23, 2.20 p.m.) London, August 22. Iu tlie House of Commons, Dr. Addison (Secretary to tho Munitions Department) stated that the todies had been recovered from the ruins caused by tho Yorkshire munitions factory explosion. There had been considerable destruction of property, but the casualties wero. lighter than had at first been anticipated. Australian-New Zealand Cable Association. (Rec. August 23, 9 p.m.) London, August 22. Official. —Tho Yorkshire explosion originated outside ons of the smaller magazines. The warning given was sufficient to enable tho majority of tho mon, and every woman, to escape. One magazine exploded first, and the others followed at short intervals, until the largest exploded, cnuslng t'lio bulb; of the damage. The munition works' were practically demolished, and other places near by were burned. A quantity of rolling-stock on the railway sidings was destroyed. Tho bursting of a fire-engine killed a number of the firemen. ». . ■ '■
