(lieuter's Telcsram.) London, August 21. Colonel Van de Venter reports: "We occupied Kidete, near Kilossa, after a determined fight." Australian-New Zealand Gable Association. (Rec. August 22, 8.30 p.m.) ' London, August 21. General Smuts reporas: "After a twodays' fight on tho Wami River, towards tho Ngog<jro, the enemy retreated. General Hosking occupied tho crossings on August 18, and is constructing bridges. General Van de Venter, in the mcantimo, moving rapidly eastwards from Mpipua, inflicted severe losses on the Germans near Kidete, on tho Central Railway, and pursuing them through Msagura station, is now approaching Kilossa. We seized tho crossings on the Wami, further east, near Mandara, relieved our naval forces at Baganiojo, and advanced towards Dar-es-Salaam. supported by naval operations on the coast.
