SATURDAY'S BENEFIT MATCH AT THE BASIN. Fine weather prevailed for the Wellington Football Association's -benefit match on tiie Basin It&srve on Saturday in. aid of the dependants of those' men who lost their lives in the recent naval. Battle of Jutland. There was a- fair attendance of the public and the Patriotic Society's Band played selections during the afternoon'.
The match set down for decision was Wadestown v. Karori, and the former team won, aftor. a good game, by 4 goals to 1. In'the firStt spell both teams attacked in turn, but ( the defence of both sides, was good. Many chances of scoring were missed, however, by over-eagernees and hard kicking by tho forwards. ,Early in the second spell Barnrity seored the first goal for Wadestown, and a little later three more goals were rattliid on, mainly through tho efforts of M'Arthur and liararity.' Karori scored with a good shot by Lessinjjton. ' OTHER MATCHES.
