Councillor Hildreth intends to move at Thursday's meeting of the City Council: "That this oouucil take info consideration the question of acquiring- land at Lyall Bay for the purpose of building cottages for the tramway employees." Location, area, and estimated values of suitable available sites. 2. Class, size, and structural description and design of buildings. 3. Estimated cost, of different types of suitable buildings. 4. (a) Method of allocation of dwellings amongst applicants; (b) order of eligibility of applicants. 5. Description of tenure or variations thereof. 6. Financial' arrangements to give effect to scheme.'"

A doputation, headed by Mrs. Gill, tho president of the Wellington Kindergarten, waited on tho Mayor (Mr. ,T. I'. Luke) yesterday afternoon. ■ Mrs. Gill, in asking the Mayor for the.use-of one of tho vacant sections belonging to tho council which wore not in use, stated that the only place they had was in tho top of a Chinaman's placo, and oven that was used by others. She also outlined what they intended to do if they wero able to got the section. Mr. Ferguson, following Mrs. Gill, stated that thero was a vacant section at tho bottom of Bicldiford Street, and if the council could grant it, ho thought tho public would subscribe tho funds required to build on the site. The Mayor, in replying, said that tho matter would have to be referred to tho council,- but ho would do what ho could for them, as ho was much interested in kindergarten work.
