LOCAL -MARKET CONDITIONS. Fruit ' inspectors of the Horticulture Division of the Department of Agriculture report as follows/on the condition of locally-grown fruit and vegetables in shops and auction rooms, and tlic market condition of these for tho month of June:— Auckland.—Business lias been fairly good. Early in month apples wero searcc —some fine, lines sold at high prices; later, a Nelson shipment arrived in good order, and realised good prices. Pears have been scarce; Canterbury lines arrived "overripe. Lemons have been jn good demand. Small fruits scarce. Pota- , toes firmer; prime samples, free from blight, have been hard to get. Average prices were: Apples, extra dessert, 95.; good, 7;. 6(1.; cooking, Is. t.o 7s. Pears, dessert, 95.; cooking, "s. Grapes, 2s. to 2s. Gd. Lemons, prime, 10s.; good, 7s. Passions-, '10s. Wellington.—Fair demand lor apples and pears. . Consignments have arrived in good supply, but tbe average ft not up to the proper standard; vegetables were in goo<( supply, with excellent prices. Cut flowers were conspicuous—demand good. Average prices were;— Apples, prime Jonathan, Bs. to 8?. Gel.; others, is. to Gs.; Dunn's favourid l , prime, 6s. to 75.; others, 3s. Gd. to 4s. Gd. Stunners, 7s. Gd. to Bs.; others, 4s. to ss. . Fears, Winter Nelis, Gs. Gd.; Winter Cole, Gs. Gd. half-case. Cabbage, 12s.' sack"; cauliflowers, Ms. sack; turnips, 4-s. 6d. saqlcj carrots, is. 6d. to 3s. G<l. sack; potatoes, £8 10s.; onions, Jo 10s.; celery (very scarce), 3s. per dozen; lettuce, good, Bs. to 10s. case; others, 3s. Gd.
' Christchurch.—Apples and jjears have been in fairly good supply—prices only fair. _ Auckland roonnini oranges were in limited supply. Green, vegetables in good supply, prices aro normal. • Potatoes li.-ve considerably risen in price, and are still rising; fivst-class samples scarce. Average prices were:—Apples,, dessert. 6s. fid. to Bs. 6d.; peavs, is. Gd. to ss. Gd.; Poorman oranges, 13s. to Its!; caulifloweij ■1-s. to Gs.; cabbages; 2s. Gd. to 3s. Gd.*; parsnips, 7d. to Bd.; carrots, Gd. to 7d.; potatoes, jEB in paddock; onions, to 10s. .in paddock. . 7
