Messrs. Dalgety and Company, Limited, report having held their fortnightly, ealo at tho Upper Hutt on. Thursday, when, they offered a medium yarding of sheep and cattle, most of which were disposed l of at satisfactory prices. . They quote:—F.f.m. ewes, in lamb, 265. 6d.j medium woolly lambs, 12s. 9d.; small woolly lambs. 95.; fat cows, "£6 14s. to £8 Bs.; spring calvers, £5 12s. 6d.; springing heifers, £7 15s. to £9 12s. 6d. • mixed yearlings, to £3. Messrs'. Dalgety and Company,. Limited, report having "held .their weekly..sale in tho Levin'yards on Wednesday, when t-liey offered an exception-ally heavy yarding of sheep .and a fair one of.cattle. In' shceip there was some ©specially good li'nes of wethers and breeding ewes. The fat" pens were also all- full, but competition for the latter class of stock was not animated, principally owing to vendors' reserves being in excess of buyers' values. Very few sales ■of fat sheep were made under the hammer, but at tho close of the day a-.number of pons were disposed of by private treaty. In : store wethers some really good sheep came forward, but again,, in except a few cases,.reserves wero too'high to lallow business to pass. Thero was'a-.keen demand for fat, and forward, cows, , also for all classes of steers, and a good- clearance of different lots offered was made.. The-principal sales were as. under:'—Sheep: Prime wethers, 365. 3d.; prime ewes, 1 365.; light-weight fat ewe?, 27e.; medium-weight • fat -wethers, 30s. Prices realised were quite on a par with those obtained at recent sales held at these yards, and wore as .follow:—CatUo: Fat cows, £5 10s„ £9 17s. 6d. to £12; empty cows, £4 10s., £5 10s. to £7; m.s. weaners, 325. to £2 ss. Sheep: -Ewes, 4 and 5-year-old, in lamb, 28s. 2d. to'3os.; good woolly lambs, 18s. 6d.; small woolly lambs, 12s. 6d.
The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co. report:—At Palmerston North, on Thursday, we had a good yarding of both sheep and cattle, -which sold readily at late rates.' Mixed b.f. lambs, 175.; fat and forward- b.f. lambs, 18s. lid.; empty owes, 19s. lid.; light ewes, 13s fid.; aged ewes, in lamb, 21s; prime fat ewes, 30s. 3d.; 2-tooth ewes and wethers (small), 275. Abraham and Williams, Ltd., report on their Marton sale, held on Tuesday:—A heavy yarding of sheep and a fair. one. of oattle came forward. , All classes of . stock ' sold readily, although several pens of ewes failed to reach vendors' reserves. Messrs. W. and G. Turnbull and 00.. Ltd.. report having held their weekly sale in their Martinbtfrough yardi on Thursday, when they ; offered a good yarding of sheep and cattle.
