HARBOUR MATTERS
MEETING OF THE BOARD. The Wellington Harbour Board met last evening. 'Mr. 0. 15. Darnell presided, and there were present also Messrs. C. W. Jones, H. L. Nathan. .T. G. Harkness, W. Cable, It. A. Wright. MVP., A. H. Hiudiuarsh, Ml\, j; W. M'Ewan, J. 0. Oobbe,.A. H'Farlane, 11 E. Sinclair, M. Cohen,. R.. Fletcher, M.P. ■ The statement of accounts'showed the current account to be .£48,803 in credit, tho imprest account X 2341 iu crcdit, and that there was ,£60,000 on fixed deposit. The Marine Department has informed the board' that for the future harboin dues on Vessels under charter by Homo or Dominion Governments and .carrying freight-earning cargo will be paid on the proportionate part of the vessel's tonnage occupied by such cargo. The chairman reported that with regard '.to the second Patent Slip the Citj Council had decided to have tho various, questions- in dispute between it and the Wellington. Patent Slip Company, Ltd., decided by a special case. . ' For some, years'the board has provided a ahedi for the receipt of wool and hemp, which accommodation the board considers ,Kfe Railway Department should pro vide. The hoard.has m.ido the provision igainslrTts wish, but lias again decided to receive the produce, subject to certain conditions. The now conditions Trill not affect the charges on wooT or hemp.
