FOR THE HOMELESS BELGIANS
' SCHOOL CHILDREN'S EFFORT. In furtherance of the scheme on foot for a general collection in the schools in aid of the Belgian children, a representative meeting of teachers and committeemen of public and private schools in the Masterton. district was held ct Masterton last evening. Representatives were present from Masterton, Lansdowne, and I'ernridgo schools, St. Matthew's ai.d St. Bride's Convent;, the Solway College, and other schools. A scheme was adopted which proposed that a cash collection be roatle at all 'the schools in the district, and that saleable produce •bo also collected and sent to Wellington to be sold at the monster sale which is to take place at the Town Hall at the end of July. It was suggested that should live stock Lo contributed it should be sold at auction in Masterton, and the proceeds forwarded on. Encouraging letters were received from all quarters, and a strong committee, including representatives ot all the ,srhools in the district, was set up to carry out the programme.
