DEATH OF AN INFANT. A verdict of <leath from heart disease and lung trouble was returned by Mr. D. G. A. Cooper, District Coroner, .yesterday touching the death of a six-montiis-old child named Gertrude Irene Ryan. BODY FOUND IN THE HARBOUR. A body was observed floating. in the harbour yesterday morning, and it was secured by the police. It was subsequently identiiicd as that of David Carroll, who lost his life while attempting to board the steamer Tarawora when she was leaving Wellington for Napier, on the night of Juno 8. An inquest will be held later. A PASSENGER AVJTO DISAPPEARED. Mr. D. G. A. Cooper, District Coroner, opened the inquest yesterday in connection with the disappearance of Miss A. Anderson, who was a passenger by the s.s. Moeraki between Wellington and Lyttelton on November 4, 1915, and who disappeared between 9.30 p.m. on November 4 and 6 a.m. on November !>. Mr. T. Bowling, second officer on the s.s. Moeraki, gave formal evidence to the effect that a Miss A. Anderson—a steerage passenger—had travellod on Ilia ship on the dale in question. He stated that the chief steward had reported that Hiss Anderson had disappeared during the night! She was Inst seen by tho stewardess at about 9.30 p.m. on November i. and had been given a cup of tea. Sho was crying, but bad refused lo give any reason. Later on an open porthole above a broken seat gave rise to a supposition tlint Miss Anderson bad gone through the porthole. At this stage the inquiry was adjourned. BODY RECOVERED. Advice has been received by' PoliceSuperintendent O'Donovan that* the body of Richard Fulton, who was drowned in the Pongnroa River about June 8 last, wa3 found last Friday. An inquest was held at Pongaroa and a verdict was returned that deceased committed suicide while of unsound mind.
