RENTS IN WAR TIME
A MEETING OF TENANTS. A meeting of rent-payers was held at the Trades* Hall last night, Mr. J. M'Kcnzie. presiding. It was resolved to form an association, to be known as "The Wellington Ten-, ants' Association." A strong committee wns formed with Mr. J, M'Kenzio as chairman. Mr. L. M. A.-- Iteardeu was elected secretary. A report in connection with the recent deputation to the Prime Minister was presented by the secretary, and further cases since received were reviewed. The following resolution was carried unanimously: "That'all tenants be urged not to pay any unjustifiably increased rents, nor to accept notice to quite anil in connection therewith to report all cases to the secretary of the association, so that legal steps may he taken to defend tenants in any case that may arise." It further decided to meet fortnightlj and to enrol all tenants possible 50 tha; the association would become representa« tive of all the rent-payers in Wellington.
