RIFLE-SHOOTING

The second competition for the . silver cup which was presented by Mr. Peterkin, .of .Wellington, for competition between the sections of Nos, 7 and, 8 Companies, Railway Engineers, took place on Thursday night, at the Railway Miniature Rillo Range. • The first competition took place on May i, and resulted 111 iSo. 1 Section, ISo. -7 Company, winning the cup by a majority of three points and an average of 23.428, from' No. 3 Section, No. 8 Company, which averaged 23. Tho winners were promptly challenged by the losing section, and the secondmatch resulted in No. 3 Section, No. 8 Company, carrying off the cup, with a majority of 7 aim 1111 average of 2-1.71, against the former winners, who avoraged 23.71. , The, cup was officially .presented to No, . 1 Section, No. 7 Company,' on May 17, at a large gathering in tlio Railway Gallery. The donor of the cup was'unfortunately uimblo to"', attend. The ternis were seven aside, each man firing. seven shots, the possible being 28 points. The rifles used were ordinary service rifles of .22 calibre, open sights, and without slings. KARORI RIFLE CLUB.
