ANNUAL MEETING. . •' Messrs. C. Watson (chairman), W. B La Tvobe, E. M'Callum, W. Ferguson, A. Magimiity, C. B. Morison, Hon. J. G. W. Aitken, Dr. Prendergast Knight, Di's. Alison, and Hector, Professors Adamson and Brown were present at the annual meeting-of the Victoria College Council, held last evening. On flie motion of the Eon. J. G. W. Aitken, seconded by Mr. Maginnity, Mr Watson was re-elected chairman for the ensuing year. It was decided to leave over the election of the Business Committee and treasurer until July, when the new members of the council take their seats. The Professorial Board wrote, informing the council that Professor Farrow had been elected chairman of the Professorial Board. The Finance and Business Committee recommended: "That a certificate bo given to .each student who passes at the aunual college examination, or is passed at the annual college examination, or is passed on his year's work. This recommendation was deferred pending the submission to the council of the form 01 forms of certificates proposed to be is sued. The same committee's recommendation, that Miss J. Hetherington, M.A.,- be ap pointed an assistant to the lecturer on education was approved. \ It was also decided that the ceremony in honour of new graduates be held 'in the gymnasium on the evening of Friday, June 23, and that a sum not exceeding ,£ls be; granted for expenses, the chairman to confer with a committed of the board respecting the arrangements. The estimates for tile year 1916-17 were set down as .£13,881, as against .£14,726 lis. 4d. received last year. The estimates for the current year included the statu tory grant of ,£9OOO from the Government. .£ISOO from the National Endowment Fund, and .£2OOO from fees. The expen diture is made up as follows:—Salaries professors and assistants, 3158; clerical staff, ,431021; other expenses, i£2529: total, .£12,558 10s.; estimated surplus, .£1175 10s. The estimates were passed. The payments required for the month of May totaled .£lOOl 3s. 3d. Of that amount £'S9l ss. represented salaries: The amount was passed for „paj-ment.
