YESTERDAY'S CASES. . Mr. W; (J.'■'.' Riddell, S.M., presided at yesterday's sitting of the ' Magistrate's' tour.t, and had.to deal with several vagrancy cases. George How, a Chinaman, who.had been residing at Kilbirnio, was convicted of keeping a brothel, and of consorting with reputed prostitutes. He was'sent to gaol tor six mouths. ' ' Annie Geary, who had been living- with the accused .George How, was convicted of'.vagrancy and c'f assisting in tho man-' agement of tho brothel.' She was ordered to go. to tho Salvation Army Homo for a period of nine mouths..: . v . _ Martha Courtsnay and Aunio Courtenay' two 6isters, who admitted that 'they hadbeen: for. two weeks occupying a room at How's residence, were sentenced to three weeks' imprisonment. A woman;- named Alice D'Beere, was convicted of being an itflo and "disorderly •person, and was ordered to Temain at the Salvation Army Homo' for sis months. . Myra Donaldson, charged with theft and with importuning, was sentenced to a month's imprisonment. A soldier, named Francis Henry Ashton, pleaded guilty to a charge'of-begging, alms, and was sent to gaol for one mouth. ' Alfred Parker and William Conrick'were fined 2(ks «aoh for drunkenness, and for a, similar offence a man, named' Alfred' Cooke, was fined 10s. Light alternatives were Used in all three cases.
