SIGNIFICANT MARRIAGE FIGURES. . The vital statistics for the month ended Saturday last are. notable, inasmuch as thoy disclose an increase in the number of marriages in Wellington to the extent of nearly 50 per cent, as compared with those for' April of last year—statistically quite a remarkable jump. The marriage figures for the four months of tho present year that have elapsed are well ahead of the number for tho corresponding period of last year.. The figures for the four months are as follow: — 1916. 1915. Births 758 709 Deaths 312 258 Marriages 440 373 For tho monthly periods the figures are as follow:— 1916. 1915.
