£134,781 REALISED. By Telegraph—l'rcai Association. Christcluirch, April 29. Groat interest is being taken in the "Queen" election, the object of which is to raise £100,000 for the patriotic funds. Tho poll closed at 4 o'clock today. The sum of £134,781 was recorded as a final result of the Queen election. The declaration of the poll placed Miss Rutherford, the Hills candidate, in the lead.' . ; ' ■.The election was mooted towards the end of 1915 as a means of placing the Canterbury Patriotic Fund on a sound financial footing. The poll resulted as under:— £ 1 Hiss Rutherford (Tho Hills) 27,140 2 Miss Birdliug (Peninsula) ... 24,394 3 Mrs. Deans (Western and Suburbs 16,575 4. Miss Clifford (Wholesale and Commerce) 15,631 5 Sirs. Stead • (Professions and Commerce) 13,241 6 Mrs. Walter Hill (Industries) 10,147 7 Mrs. C. E. Rhodes (Soldiers) 9,005 8 Miss M. Addinell (North) ... 8,798 9 Mrs. J. C. Palmer (Public • Service) 8,34 i Patriotic and Belgium appeals in Canterbury have so far produced £416,618.
