CROWN THEATRE

TO BE OPENED THIS EVENING. A visit of inspection was made last even, ing'by the shareholders and a large number of friends to the now Crown Theatre in Molesworthi Street. The. Crou;h Theatre orchestra rendered several very pleasing selections, and Mr. Phil Lewis, late King's College Boys' ■ Harmonic Quintet, also contributed a number of popular items and was enthusiastically received. The manager (Mr. P. Brooks) made a few appropriate remarks, and thanked those present for their appreciation of the 'new theatre. To-night Miss Marie Tempest, the bright and versatile English actress, will professionally, although photographically', open. the new theatre. The play chosen for the initial performance is a j Red Feather feature, entitled "Mrs. Plum's/Pudding," in which Miss Tempest appears as Mrs. Plum. A strong selection lof supporting films will be shown. Owing to the heavy booking of the dress circle, the management announce that there Are no more seats available in that part of the theatre, but in the orchestral stalls, seats may bo reserved at the Bristol this morning. In the afternoon the manager t will bo in attendance at the thcatro from 2 till 5 p.m. for the convenience of tho intending patrons of the stalls. At 7 o'clock to-night the theatre doors will be opened.'
