EDUCATION BOARD
MONTHLY MEETING,
The Hon. J. G. W. Aitken (chairman), T. Moss, "W. Allan, A. W. Hogg, H. Freeman, C. M. Luke, Sir W. C. Buchanan, and W. H. Field were present at the ordinary monthly meeting of the Wellington Education ' Board, held yesterday afternoon. '
The debit balance (as shown by the financial .statement)'.on- April 17 .was £3552 19s. 10d., compared with- a debit ou March 24 of £2494' Bs. Id. The receipts totalled £11,616 4s. 5d., arid the payments £12,674 16s. 2d. Authorisations (including sites, etc.), in addition to Mardi 28, £1769.: . . ■ ■ On the recominondation of the Works and Finance Committee, the board approved of small grants' to the following schools:—Karori, Koputaroa, Levin District High School/ Ngaio, Ohariu, Johnsonville, arid 'Puketoi. The. board decided that the keeping, of separate manual and.technical school accounts be discontinued, and that school outbuildings bo included in fire policies. ■•■'■' .
_ The residents of ■ Momington and Vpgeltown have applied for. a school, but further information is to be gathered before the board makes • a dehnito decision.
Further _ representation to the Department is : to. be made respecting increased accommodation at Lansdowne and Ohariu. Action has been deferred in connection with the sanitation arrangements at Johnsonville. The. Qity members are to visit the Mount Cook Infant School in connection with a'complaint received.
