OLD' BOYS'" CLUB. MEETING. ' The 18th annual meeting of the Wellington College Old. Boys' football Club was held, at Bethuue's Building last evening, Mr. AY. E. Bethune presiding over a fair attendance. The annual report congratulated members of the first fifteen on winning the third-class championship last season for the second time in succession, and also made appreciative references to tho work of Mr. .A. E. Wilson, who spent a groat amount of timo in coaching the winning team.i The second fifteen, the report stated, did not fully uphold traditions, probably due, it is suggested, to a lack of interest both in training and oil field. Pleasure was expressed at tho willingness of members as' they come of military age to enlist, and, 1 the report claims, the club does not .include a shirker. Out of a total memborship of 156, 87 have proceded to the front. ; Considerable regret 'was expressed at the loss of Mr. A. E. Wilson, who' has been 'transferred to . The club vyas founded by Mr. Wilson and Mr. J. S. Palethorpe in 1898, and since that time Mr. Wilson had been the mainstay of the club. The report wished him the best of luck in his new sphere. "In conclusion," the report stated, "we urge upon all members this coming season to do their utmost for the club, to attend practices and to show keenness, both on and off the field; and, as each comes of military age, to do 'his duty in the greatest of all games now being fought out on foreign_fields." The balance-sheet showed a credit balance of £35 Is.' 7d. '
The following officers were elected:— President, Mr. J. P. Firth; vice-presi-dents, Mr. M. 0. Barhett, Dr. W. Young; club captaiii, Mr. A. E. Wilson; management' committee, Messrs. G. Gray, J. D. Hislop, T. E. Mellor, W. Kenai, and J. M. Scott; delegates to Wellington Rugby Union, Mr. W. W. Cook; lion, secretary, Mr. C. A. Pilclier; lion, treasurer, Mr. ]?. Harris; hon. auditor, Mr. W. H. Morrali.
On tli© motion of' Mr. J. P. Firth (Principal of "Wellington College) the following resolution was carried: "That the club places on record its appreciation of the loyalty and patriotism of those members—44 out of a total of 63 —who have joined the, Forces to fight for Sing and country; 'antf.'expresees to tliem its heartiest, good wishes for good luck.," ' ■ " i Messrs. A. E. Wilson and J. L. Palethorpe, two. of the'oldbst members of the club, who are; fgroed by removal from the city to resign, were elected life members of the clud. Most, appreciative references were made of the I services of these two gentlemen. The usual donation of £5 ss. was made to the AVellington College ground fund. Votes of thanks were passed to the retiring offfcers, to Atr. J. P. Firth, and to the chairman.
