RED CROSS ACTIVITIES'
A meeting of the Reu Cross Military Hospital Guild was held at the Town Hall yesterday morning. There was o full attendance of members, and Mrs. \V. F. Massey presided. It was decided that the guild should no longer be called the Red Cross Military Hospital Guild, but instead the British Red Cross Society, Wellington Branch. As new quarters have been taken in the Dental Buildings in Lower Cuba Street, opposite) the Town Hall, the society will be vacating its present, rooms some time at the beginning of next week for its new home in the above-mentioned buildings. As there will be far more room it will bo possible to extend the activities in every direction. For instance, there will,be a room in which everyone anxious to do sewing at odd times for the society can go and sew, and the society hopes to be able to provide a certain number of sewing machines to help on the work. There will also bo a room for cutting out, a room for packing, and so on. Everything in connection with Red Cross work will be carried on in the new building, instead of in the Town Hall or in the premises about to be vacated. Mrs. Corkill, of Oriental Bay, who has given invaluable assistance to the guild in many ways, was elected a member of the Rod Cross Committee at yesterday's meeting' ' : . The convalescing stage for men in hospital is often a weary _ and rather boring time, unless distractions of various kinds are provided, and the Red Cross Society (Military Hospital Guild) will be very grateful for. gifts of cricket sets, quoits, racquets, _ ping-pong 6ets, etc., to send to the military hospitals in Feathorston, Greytown, and Trentham, for the use of the men who aro recovering from measles and other ills from which' they have been suffering- . Tho packing of Red Cross requisites for Mesopotamia is Btill occupying tho energies of tho Red Cross Society. Twelve hundred bandages alone have been packed ready for sending away.
