The rest of the programme is very good too, I hear. By tho way, what brand of pineapple do you usually buy?" "Those delicious tins from Hawaii—l buy them at the Wairarapa Farmers', on tho Quay, you know. They sell them in tins of two sizes, and the fruit is simply exquisite, and beautifully sliced. Oh!—are 3'ou going to the races?" "1 think so. That reminds me, I must seP about a hat. I was looking at the millinery display at the Bon Marche, in Willis Street, the other day—they havo a fine show. I think we had better go along to-day and have a good look Tound. And they have some very special things in furs—Coney seal, musquash, squirrel, and pony skin." "Shall we have lunch together at the Tyrol Rooms, in Manners Street, to-day?" "Delighted! I took my husband along there tho other day.. They have a,smoking room there for gentlemen, and I think that must have been the last little ■touch that captured him. Hutt Ladies' Patriotic Guild. The monthly meeting of the executive of tho butt Ladies' Patriotic Guild was held yesterday at St. James's Schoolroom. Mrs. M'Caw presided, and there were present: Mesdames J. Ward, Nicholson, Hansell, Eocho, Carminer, Jenness, J. Cameron, and Miss Stuart-Forbes. The secretary reported that tho patriotic shop was doing well, and that tho weekly sowing meetings were well attended. It'was decided to contribute twenty-five parcels per month to the Liverpool Committee for the Expeditionary Forces, and twenty suits of pyjamas, as well as other hospital garments, ,to tho Military Hospital each month. Concert at Trentham. On Wednesday evening, at the Y.M.C.A. Hall, a farewell concert was given by Miss Caddick's party to the members of the 11th Reinforcements. Tho items, which were of a high-class order, included songs by Hiss Ethel Morrison, of the J. C Williamson Opera Company, who is spending a short holiday in Wellington. Other items wore, contributed by the following:—Misses J. Pctrie, E. Churchill, E. Smith, N. Simpson,- Messrs. H. F. W r ood and AV. Goudie, and the camp favourite (Harry Lauder), little Winston M'Carthy. Miss Caddick and Mrs. Quirk acted as accompanists. The appreciation of the soldiers was shown by the and cheers at tho conclusion iff the programme. Lance-Gorporal A. Maitlaud, of the llths, also sang.
