The Masterton quota of gift parcels to the number of 200 have been forwarded ready for transportation; and from "Wellington city will be sent about 1700 parcels for the men at the front. It was only the other day that a letter was received by a Wellington lady from a soldier in Egypt, who told her that he had just received some parcels from his relatives. He further added: "It makes my heart bleed to see the faces of the men who get nothing from New Zealand." It is such statements as these from men who aro there to seo and realise how others feel about such things that should make overyone here do their best to send something for the men who are giving up so much for the sake of their country. The parcel scheme that has recently been inaugurated ensures that every man shall get something from New Zealand. Literature for the use of the troops on board the transports was being pack.ed in tho basement of. the Town Hall yestorday, a great deal of assistance being given by Chaplain "White. For his services in this matter the committee was deeply grateful, the more so in that it was tho first occasion on which any assistance had been given in this particular department by any man at all. The Countess of Liverpool Committee sent to the Defence Department this week tho full quota of "housewives" and hold-alls, 3000 of each.. An offer that has been greatly appreciated was that made by students of the Wellington Training College to make 200 "housewivos."
