CHAMPION SINGLES TO-DAY. For ''some little time past all city and suburban bowling cjubs have been engaged in finding their singles champions for the season. Some of the olubs have engaged in a competition to decide the champion, and in other cases one player has been selected to represent the club. All these champions will be seen in action on the Victoria Club's green this afternoon, when the champion , singles player of Wellington will be sorted out. As these will be among the best players in the district the event is regarded as ail important one m the local bowling world. Play will commence at 9.15 a.m. sharp, and the final game is expected to commence at 4 p.m. The following will represent the Khandallah Club iagainst Johnsonville on Saturday next, at Khandallah:— Mansfield, Cameron, Weight, J. A pleasant little function took place at tlio Wellington Bowling Club's green yesterday afternoon, when a team of visiting bowlers from Australia was entertained. The personnel of the team is:—Messrs. Phippard and M'Clure (Randwick), King (Strathfield) and Kinnear (Waverley). During the afternoon a friendly game wa6 played, the visitors winning by 27 points to the Wellington Club's l6.'Tlie Wellington team included Messrs. Williams, Berry, Moult, and Bush (s.). The Australians arrived by the.E-iver-ina on Monday, and will remain in Wellington for about a week, when they will leave for Rotorua and Auckland, prior to leaving for Sydney.
