1 WELLINGTON V, REST OF CLUBS. WELLINGTON WINS AGAIN. Every year, one Saturday afternoon in the bowling season is set apart for !1 , contest between the AVellington Club (the oldest, and, numerically, tho ! al 'gest club) and the rest ol' the clubs m Wellington and suburbs. The latter : .\' e "jvited to send one rink each to the ANellington green, and usually that rink is the best that can be got together, Since 1905 (the year of tho initiation of the fixture) the AVellington Club has never known defeat, and each •r, o!> ' r ." le luarvi! ' ls as k* ' low it is done. On Saturday it actually established a record in the number of points it won by on tho aggregate, viz., 146. Tho green was as keen as a razor, but was playing very true, and tho afternoon's play was thoroughly enjoyed by all who participated. Some of the games were admirably contested, but in only one of the fifteen games played did AVellington go down. This was the match between rinks skipped by Mr. E. J. Hill (Wellington), and Air. AVylie (Newtown). Some of the wins were really remarkable. _ Horner's rink completely buried the Khandallah rink (skipped by Mr. J. A. Plirnmer), Wellington scoring 40 points to tho visitors' 6, whilst Kelhurn's rink (skipped by M'Arthur) flent down i to Gooder by 45 points to 11. The results of these games ever since they were started is as follows:— AVellington. Rest of Clubs. 1905 275 215 1906 266 263 1907 354 217 1908 350 249 1909 357 248 1910 325 3241911 336 256 1912 312 ' 305 1913 334, 297 1914 ..' 290 2551915 398 265 191G 360 214 In justice to the "rest of the clubs" it should be .mentioned that some of the clubs did not send in their strongest rinks. It happened that A'ictoria and Petone ivero playing Pennant games, and in conseqnence of that their represetatives wore perhaps not so strong as they might have been; still, it is a great record, of which the AVellington Club are justified in being proud of. Mention should be made of the delectable afternoon tea provided by the chib, which was served by a willing band of ladies, the wives, daughters, and friends of the members. NEAVTOAVN OLUB.
