DUNEDIN MEETING BIG HANDICAP WON BY MAGDALA. By Telegraph.—(Special Correspondent.) Dunedin, February 17. The Dunedin races wore continued today in fine "out windy weather. The attendance was fair. The totalisator bundled £14,717, compared with oUIS,BJi for the same day last year. The war tax totalled .DUI 4s. M. The four acceptors in the Hurdles all irent to the post. Bore was a good favourite, and ne duly won after giving a pour exhibition of jumping. Tne plodding Cast Iron got witnin half a length of Him at the ilviLsh, while Peerless was two lengths away, and Lord Frederick, who hud blundered badly at one fence, was tailed off. Bore ran about a lot today, and at one stage Peerless got up to liim, but was unable to stay there 011 the flat, and a good jump at the last loiico won the race for the favourite. Cincinnatus was the choice in the Henley Handicap,- and, jumping out well, hn led the whole way. It was the easiest ivin of the meeting, and tie favourite was ouly going halt'-paee passing tlie post, Hardsliot was in second placc for most of the way, but Sister Kegis beat him on the post. The last-named showed considerable improvement on yesterday's form. Kiltess was fourtli and Bellshiro fifth. . The last-named has lost a lot of his brilliancy at the barrier.
Borke's Drift, Kobert Bell, and Rev.it were withdrawn on tho course from the big Handicap, Aerial, Fender, and Down being backed in that order. Tho firstnamed was first away, and led from Ogier into the straight,' where Down took charge, but over the last furlong llagdala, who had been badly placed in the first part, came with a wet sail, and won comfortably from Down, -with Fender, who was tailed otf early, close up, followed by Aerial, Adjutant, and Ogier. The winner was well handicapped, but his chances were not 1 seriously considered by students of form.
Panmure continued in a winning vein in the Hazlctt Memorial Stakes, when be defeated lus solitary opponent, First Ulance, after a great Unish, his great finishing powers standing to.hilu. The race was run at a crawl in the middle stages. Approaching the straight, Donovan jump, uu away on inrst Glance, and her victory ,-vos called, but Oliver was soon in action, >uul, galloping strongly, tlie pair ascended the hill. In the last few strides Paunuire got up, but the mare would not be denied, and answered her rider's calls, 'file pair passed the post together, and the judge gave -thp verdict iur Panmure by hall a head. This makes the sixth consecutive win for Panmure, and as he seems to be thriving on racing probably hiu trainer will give Win a couple more starts .this seasons. To-day he stripped a. picture, as did his opponent, who is also standing up well to the racing. (Jharleville and Sir Malt carried xnosx support in the Outram Handicap, and the former, who is owned by Mr. 0. 51. AVise, stored decisively at the finish after getting anything but the best of the start, lventlock led to the distance and then gave way to Hornbeam, but the iuvourite came fast on the outside, and beat the Martian mare by a length. Stargaze*, who was a rank outsider, was close up, and then camo Kentlock, who will win races it" he keeps sound. With Panmure ajid Robert Bell out of the way Keval was seized upon as the best ot good things for the Domain Handi cap, and after giving a lot of bother, with others, at the barrier, he jumped out well, and won nicely, though only by a neck from his erstwhile stable inate, Ghariuilla. The latter was iu front till the straight was reached, but Keval always had her measure when they came to racing over the last part. Multoe, who did not begin well, was third, .and Builer, who had been prominent to the turn, tinished fourth.
1 lie two-year-old Handicap prodded a great finish ■ between Wardancer (the favourite) and Don Paciiico. Kilbojne led into the straight_ with the Whito King, but in. the end Wardancer and Don Pacifioo wero left to light out the finish. Tho favourite moved down iu tho preliminary much freer to-day. The White King (King's Guest—Kotuku) got off badly, hut he showed great pace, and led with Kilboyne into tho straight. For a first publie appearance, it was a pleasing effort. Ringform was the elect of backers m the Suburban Welter Handicap, but after jumping out well and leading for half a mile he fell back beaten. Palisade then took charge to the distance, but Daringdale- came along full of running, and scored comfortable from him. Unomo was always well up, and finished third, just clear of Fabrikoff, who camo from a long way back.
