FOR, SOLDIERS AND THEIR FRIENDS. , By Telegraph.—Press Association. . . " Auckland, February 3. A &ystem of inquiry bureaux for soldiers and soldiers' relatives is to be established in the principal centres of the Dominion. The Prime Minister stated this evening that tho bureaux will afford a simple' means of communication between soldiers or civilians' and the military authorities. "The difficulty at present," Mr. Massey ,said,' "is that a soldier- who finds himself without funds for instauco, and wants to communicate ■ with Defence Headquarters, does not know • exactly how to go about it, or the relatives of soldiers who wish to make inquiries oil his behalf." The Minister of Internal Affairs has, been requested by the Government to make the necessary arrangements .that some reliable and competent officer at' each bureau will receive such inquiries, convey them to the proper quarter, and on receiving an official reply in <>ach case communicate it to the person who made the inquiries. "The Government wants to treat returned soldiers well and properly," Mr. Massey added, "and will do so in every 'instance, but,if the Department is not supplied with full particulars the Government is practically helpless in the matter. The now bureaux will enable overyono to bring his case before the notice of the Department."
