Some interesting information relating to the National Register was communicated by the Minister of Internal Afjfairs (the Hon. G. W. Russell) yesterday. •It would bo remembered, remarked the Minister, that when the preliminary, summary of the National Register was published a few weeks ago it was stated that 8390 single men and ! widowers without dependents had declared they were not prepared to volunteer for the Expeditionary Forces or to serve in a civil capacity. Since then the Government Statistician had made, an analysis of the reasons given by these 8390 . men, and the result was as follows:— Reasons Detailed.
