THE WOMEN WILL NOT FAIL.
Sir, —"When) tho moil of this land cease to respond to the clear, high trumpet-call of duty, jiovor doubt the loyalty of the women! I beliovo from all our towns, largo or small, women M'oiuu enlist , for woman's sake, if no other cause. We have read from authentic sources the agonies women and children have been forced to endure, when' their husbands, fathers, or brothers were killed before their eyes, or helpless to aid them. Then, again, the treatment .of wounded—the degradation of British fighting men under German rule. We may in the course of merciful time forgive; I solemnly hope we shall never forget German methods, and treatment of tho helpless,*or our wounded.'
From a German soldiers' > diary, lie declares that if a prisoner did not un-' deretand German, he 'was kicked or illtreated.. How it makes one's spirit flame with indignation. We shall never quite know or be allowed to hear of cruelties exercised" upon our own roldiers in Germany. To havo been burnt alive, or buried alive, as somo were treated, was kindness in comparison. What wonder visions were 6een at the time of J lons,' and as our helpers and friends. We are on His side against the. infernal wickednoss and cruelty of & mighty host, or once mighty host, whoso power has been brought low. I would warn any man ■ to go and tight, with no serious responsibility or burdens here, ■to go, to hasten under this banner of Rigiity Honour, and Liberty our soldiers are upholding. There is no doubt in woman's soul of Germany's downfall. She fell degra<fed when those vile deeds were done°whicu we remember at the outset of this war. il.ie brand of infamy for those cruelties will 6tain Germany's name for generations yet to bo. It is tho part of all true men to see that no repetition of thorn takes place. For the sake' of their manhood- God-given, let them now prove themselves men, or live on to -s-j known as cowards and feeble travesties of jnen whom women can only despise —i am, etc.. A AYOMAN.
