DISPATCH OF TROOPS FROM AUCKLAND.
Sir, —The Minister of Defence is reported as stating tliat the Rifle Battalions will embark at Auckland. Whilst appreciating the wish of the Minister to obligo our Auckland fronds with a show parade, which, in the opinion of many people, will do little good and givo ,tho officers and men of the battalions needless work and worry, to say nothing of tho expense, it would, I am sure, convenience many parents and relatives who will wish to farewell their boys at the final embarkation, if a definito statement is made as to whether it is intended to embark the troops at Wellington, troopships calling at Auckland, Or to send troops by rail to Auckland, embarkation to take placo at that point. Early and authentic information regarding tho abovo will, I am sure, be 'much appreciated by those interested. —I am, etc., PARENT. [Tho Defence, Minister stated yesterday, in reply to an inquiry on the subject, that the present intention is that the troops shall be carried by rail from Rangiotu to Auckland, to embark there. Ho could not say definitely that this plan would not .bo altered, but if so notice would be given of tho change. The troops would' not leave yet for some time.]
