NINTH REINFORCEMENTS
REVIEWED AT TRENTHAM. Several hundreds of citizens journeyed to Trentham yesterday morning to witness the review of the 9th Reinforcements by His Excellency tho Governor. But owing to the review being the ; portion of the artillery park furthest Tomoved -from the road, and to the public being forbidden to enter the grounds, they saw little of the proceedings. The march past the saluting base of nearly 3000' trained men, however, compensated them, tho troops presenting a line • spectacle. ■ The Governor arrived at 11 o'clock, and was accompanied by the Minister of - Defence and Brigadier-General Robin,, Officer Commanding the Forces; they were received by Colonel Gibbon, Chief of the General Staff, Colonel Potter, Camp Commandant, and other offi--cers. ' The Trentham Camp Band played the National Anthem when His Excellency approached tho soldiers, and the troops presented arms, while eaoh unit came to attention when being inspected. Ohis procedure was most thoroughly carried out, each man coming under the Governor's eye. At the conclusion of the review, His Excellency took up a position at the saluting base, and took the salute from the troops' as they passed by. Tho dust raised by tho countless feet was blown by tho light southerly wind, and made a strange setting to the column of khaki-clad troops, whose marching won the approval of the onlookers. The Governor and Colonel Allen returned to town after the rovie\v, and tbo officers and men were made free to meet their relatives and friends who had come from all parts of tho Dominion to see them.
