At 2.55 p.m. yesterday the Union Company's Moana arrived in tho stream from San Francisco, via way ports, and subsequently berthed at the Queen's Wharf No. 1 south. On the run down from the Oalifornian port fine weather was experienced till Tuesday, December 28, when a big southerly swell , was encountered. The Maitai was passed on December 20 at 8 p.m, bound from Wellington to San Francisco. The Moana brought 1277 tons of cargo for this port, including 152 tons of transhipments for Sydney and other Australian pof-ts, and 103 tone for Lyttelton and 52 tons for Dunedin. Her cargo comprised 290 kegs lead, 37 cases and 129 barrels lubricating oil, 25 cases sewing machines,'39s canned fish, 2334 canned fruit, 4 bales leather, 206 cases auto tires, 2525 boxes raisins, 625 boxes dried peaches, 120 cases electric material, 114 packages ; figs, 2333 boxes prunes, 200 boxes dried apricots, M 5 boxes dried apples, 251 crates and rolls rooll>g, 24 cases heaters, 93 packages periodicals, 28 casks beans, 60 cases grape juice. 30 cases rubber boots, 20 cases paste, 20 drums asphaltum, 60 cases cream tartar, 22 cases cocoa- butter, 700 cases lemons, 202? case? oranges, SCO cases apples, 1652 cases bananas, 1374 boxes tomatoes and cucumbers, 10 sacks coconuts, and largo quantity tity of sundries. Tho Moana will leave Wellington tomorrow evening 'for Lyttelton, where she will take on board a number of soldiers on leave, and will sail again for Wellington on Sunday, being due here on Monday morning next. On January 6 tho vessel will be dispatched for San Francisco, via wa.v ports, and she is due at her ftistiuation on January 26. MATATUA ARRIVES HOME. Advice has been received that the ShuwSavill steamer Matatua, which left Napier oil October 7, via Sydney and South African ports, arrived at London on December 26. WIMMERA LEAVES HOBART. ' A cable messago has been roceived by the local offlco of the Iluddart-Parker Co. stating that tho W.immera cleared Hobart for Wellington at noon on Tuesday. She will arrive hero early on Saturday morning, and will land '7CO tons of cargo before proceeding on' to southern ports and Melbourne on Monday. In future tue Wimmera, will omit Hobart, as a port of call both coming and going from New Zealand. PAPAROA DUE SUNDAY. Tho F. and S. Line's chartered steamer Paparoa, is expected to leave Auckland, in continuation of her journsy from Liverpool to Wellington, to-morrow. She is one here on Sunday, and will bo dispatched for southern ports on January 5. R.M.S: TAINUI LEAVES THE OAPE. R.M.S, Tainui, en route from London to Wellington, cleared Cape Town for Hobart on December 26. The liner is due here about January 19. LIMERIOK TO, LOAD. Tho F. and S. liner Limerick, which is at present loading general cargo at Australian ports, will come across to New Zealand to load frozen meat and - cheese un/Icr the auspices of the New Zealand Shipping Company. The vessel is expected to leitve 'Sydney to-morrow for ; Wellington, and will receive final dispatch from New Zealand for London about January 18. , RANGATIRA REPORTED. According to advice received by tho head offlco of the Sliaw, Savill, and Albion Co., the Rungatira left Monte Vidro on December 24 for London. She sailed from Auckland on December 3, and is due at her destination on or about January 14. MESS-TABLE GOSSIP. • .j Mr. R. V. Oaptain Ryan, of tho Karamu, has had to come ashore on avcount of family illness. Captain Hender, late of the Rakanoa, hag taken chaise of the Karamu, and Captain Baron has joined the Rakanoa. A Press Assocation message received from London announces tho arrival of the Port Albany from Port Chalmers. ,Thc vessel left the southern port on October 2 for Australian and Home ports. - On Christmas Eve tho Union Company's cargo-carrier Waitemata left Bunbury with a load of timber for tho Bluff and Lyttelton. En route the vessel will call at Hobart for bunker coal. After a considerable delay at this port the Huddart-Parkcr steamer Werribee left yesterday morning for Sydney. Tho vessel bought to New Zealand the- largest cargo of paper ever shipped at tho Powell River mills. It is understood that the Worribeo has been chartered by tho Union Company on a time charter. The 0. and D. liner Indrabarah, which is under engagement to load in New Zooland for London, has arrived at Adelaide. Melbourne and Sydney will be visited before the Indrabarah comes across to these waters to load. The Union Company's Waihora is due at Auckland from Eastern ports on January 10, and at Wellington on January 15. Slio has 1620 tons of Indian cargo, and 2760 bales of kapoc for discharge here. The barque Antiope, 13G0 tons, which is undergoing a thorough overhaul at Wellington, lias been chartered to load timbiT at Kn-ipara for -Melbourne. The barquentiue Senorita, 324 tons, has also been fixed to load timber at Auckland for Melbourne. Shipping companies are now making arrangements regarding the approaching season in Tasmania. So far six P. and. 0. liners have been definitely.fixed to call tliere, the vessels being the Medina, leaving Sydney on February 19, and Mongolia, Malwii Miioltau Maloja aud Arabia which will follow at fortnightly intervals.
