As the last clearance of the city re. oeivcrs is made at 5.45 p.m. on Saturdays, all correspondence for the Sunday - night Auckland express must bo posted at tho Chief Post Office not later than 8 p.m. on Sunday . . On Friday, December 31, too Garners Department (entrance upstairs from Featherston Street) will be open for the dolivery of correspondence addressed to streets in the city and suburbs from 8 to 9 p.m.; also the public counter for the delivery of correspondence addressed to the Post Office will be open from 8 to 9 p.m. The parcclß delivery counter will be open from 0 to 9 p.m. On Saturday, January 1 (New Tear « Dav), tho Postal Department -will be closed in all its branches. Mails for dispatch by steamers will close at 8 p.m. on the previous evening, end tho , only dispatches of correspondence by trains will close on New Year's Day as follow;— For tho Wairarapa, Hawke's Bay, Manawatu, Rangitikci, Wanganul, and Taranaki districts at 5.45 a.m., and for Auckland. and Auckland district at 8 a.m.' The city and suburbs receivers will not bo cleared during the day, but the midnight clearances will bo made as usual on Sunday, January S.
