The Department of Agriculture, Industries, and Commerce hee received the following cablegram from the High Commissioner for New Zealand, dated London December 24, 1915. (Note: Quotations, unless otherwise specified, are averago market on spot):— Mutton and Lamb.—The market has been active at higher prices during this week, although a large supply of Home-killed was available for the Christmas trade. Canterbury and North Island mutton is rot quoted owing to short supply. There arc' only a few carcasses of Canterbury muttou' on the market, and they are selling at 7id. per lb.; ewes, a brisk demand, 6Jd. Lambs: The market remains firm. The demand has been ohi'efly for .heavy weights. Canterbury two's, 7id. per lb.; heavy-weight fours, 7 3-Bd. ;• second-class quality light-weight, 7d.; other than Canterbury, 7 3-Bd. for best quality; ordinary quality, 7Jd. Heel. — I Tile market is Arm. Only secondclass quality cow beef is available, and it is felling at: Hinds, sgd. per lb.; fores, bil drilled—A moderate supply; hinds, 7Jd.; fores, 53d. Butter—The market is dull, with a downward tendency. Danish, market very depressed, 160s. to ,1685.; New Zealand, 148s. and up to 1525.; iinsaltcd, 1525. and up to 1565.; Australia, 1445. to 1465.; Siberian, 1265. to 1345.; Argentine, 148s. to 1525. Cheese.—The market is firm, 'with hardening tcn.dency, Canadian, white and coloured,' por cwt., 945. to 955.; New Zooland. firm market, with good demand, 91s. to 925.; English Cheddar, 100s. to 1025.; Cheshire, lC6s. to 110s.
