A wireless message lias been received from Captain Collins, of the Moeraki, stating that he expected liis vessel to arrivo in port from Sydney at 8 a.m. to-day. She will berth at the Queen's Wharf on arrival, and will leavo for Lyttelton to-moT-row. The Moeraki will return to Wellington, on Thursday next, aud will take her departure for Sydney <lircct at 5 p.m. R.M.S. MAITAI FURTHER DELAYED. . Repairs to the Mait-ai's boiler have taken longer than anticipated. It was thought that the vessel would be ready to sail for San Francisco, via Rarotonga and Papeete, at midnight last night-. As the work had to be tested, however, tho Mai'tai's departure was postponed till 6 -a.m. to-day. MOANA LEAVES 'FRISCO. R.M.S. Moa-na left San Francisco for Wellington, via usual way ports, on Wednesday, Decomber —due date. She wiH call at Papeete on December 20, at Rarotonga Deoember 23, and arrival should bo made liere on December 30. The Moana will leave on the return trip on January 6, being due at the Californian port on J-anuary 26. MAPOURIKA TO RESUME RUNNING. On Monday, December 20, tho Mapourika will bo recommissioned as an extra, boat, in the Picton-Nelson service during the Ohrißtmas holidays. Sho will mako one run to the Wost Coast in place of the Arahura, loading hero at 12.45 p.m. on December 20. Arriving baok on December 24, the Mapourilia. will sail again the samo day for Picton and Nelson. Sho will remain at Nelson till December 27, and will arrive at Wellington early on the morning of December 28. Two more trips will be made in tho same serTice . beforo tho ilapouri'ka. withdraws. THEMIS FROM NEW YORK. An arrival in tho stream at Wellington yesterday afternoon from New York dircct was the Barber Line's ohartered steamer Themis, for which Mr. G. H. Scales is tlio agent. She fa -a fine-looking vessel of 7402 tons, and is in command of Captain GuHiksen. The Themis left New York as far book as September 12, and it was intended that she should come througli the Panama Canal. On arrival at Colon, however, it was found that the Canal -had been blocked, and the vessel was therefore compelled to come out via the Cape of Goodi Hope. Tho Themis will be cleared, by the Port Health Oificcr this msjuing, and will berth at the wharf at -about 8 a.m. On oomplotion of discharge the Themis will take the woolloading berth for America, under charter to Mr. G. H. Scales. MEBS-TAHLE GOSSIP. ' Mr. H. Johansen, lato mate of the Hawera, has joined the Kapuni in a similar position, vice Mr. V. Johansen, who has come ashore. Mr. H. Wihiteflold has joined the Mararoa as second officer. Mr. P. GlUon has succeeded Mr. D. Qninn as wiTelcss operator on the Mai-tat. Mr. G. H. Scales returned from the south by the Mararoa on Saturday. 'Mr. Melton, second steward of R.M.S. Niagara, lias been promoted to bo chief of tho MakuTa, in place of Mr. H. E. Willings, who has gono into business on his own account in Sydney. Captain E. J. Harvey lias resumed charge of tho Queen of the Soutli. Oaptain W. Brigden lias reverted to his former position as mate, and Mr. Dowell has comc ashore for orders. Mr. J. Langlauds, second officer of the Kauri, has had to go ashore at Sydney on account of ill-health. Mi'. Williamson, third officer, has ben promoted a step. Mr. J. Pennington, well known on the Nov/ Zealand coast, has, it is understood, Joined the Waitomo as chicf officer in place of Mr. Hoddinott, who has resigned from tho Union Company's service. Advico has been received that tho New Zcn-laml Shipping Company's Ruahino, oil route from London to Now Zealand ports, left Capo Town on Decembor 9. Sho is duo hore about January 12. Homeward loading will be continued at Wellington by the Mamari to-day. Tho Kini will leave Port" Chalmers to-day for the BltifF, where she will pick up 8000 crates of cheese as well as a quantity of general cargo for Wellington. The Koitoa, which is due here to-morrow, will romain in port till the following day in order to pick up licr schedule running.
